ShelterTech Care Sheet

Caring For Your ShelterTech SP Series Building or High Tunnel Greenhouse

Although our buildings are made strong enough to withstand consistent use season after season, it’s important to properly care for your buildings to ensure their longevity. Here are some tips to help you care for your ShelterTech building.

Caring for Your ShelterTech Cover

In order to get the longest life and greatest value from your ShelterTech cover, we recommend regular cleaning. Here are some effective tips you can use to maintain your cover:

Avoid Harsh Detergents and Cleaners

These can reduce the life of your PVC cover.

Avoid Abrasive Cleaning Methods

Avoid power washing, or using brushes with hard edges that can puncture your cover.

Do Clean Your Cover Regularly

Allowing heavy build-up of dirt and grime can promote mildew and mold growth and premature wear.

Do Use a Soft Brush or Fabric for Cleaning

Avoid brushes with hard angles and edges to prevent puncturing your cover.

Conduct Building Check-Ups Often

After assembling your building, you’ll want to make sure it stays in place and remains properly attached.

Keep Your Cover Taught

Check on your cover and make sure it’s taught against the frame. Tighten when necessary so it’s taught (like a drum cover), but not too tight that the frame punctures or wears the cover down.

Check Your Anchors

You should regularly check your anchors to make sure they are in place and your building is still safely and properly anchored to the ground/foundation.

Be sure to conduct checkups every few months. We also recommend a checkup following a major storm, or following a period of particularly inclement weather.

Snow Removal

While your ShelterTech building is wind and snow load rated, it is still important to ensure proper removal of snow from your shelter. When removing snow, we recommend using a soft sided brush and avoiding brushes or objects with hard edges that could puncture your building.
